The Occam Design story could not be told without mentioning TETRAS. Vas Abramov and Jason Lone combined their engineering expertise to create the world’s most advanced peptide synthesizer. The success of the TETRAS program laid the foundation for what would become Occam Design.
Since its inception, Occam Design has exclusively manufactured the TETRAS peptide synthesizer for our sister company, Thuramed. Occam spearheads R&D projects that have driven the continuous evolution of TETRAS, ensuring it remains at the cutting edge of peptide synthesis technology.

Prior to TETRAS, peptide synthesis technology faced significant limitations. Users were constrained to rigid chemistries and single-project workflows. Downtime and equipment failures were common, hindering progress. These issues provided an opportunity to reimagine the synthesizer: focusing on fluid delivery innovation and modularity to minimize disruptions.
The result?
TETRAS became the first peptide synthesizer to offer asynchronous synthesis, enabling multiple chemistries up to 108 peptides simultaneously. The ingenious design eliminates cross-contamination, minimizes downtime, and allows users to synthesize diverse peptides simultaneously without interruptions.
Now operating on four continents, TETRAS is the synthesizer of choice for peptide chemists worldwide, playing a vital role in advancing peptide therapeutics and research.
